Saw an adult proven breeder for $2500. Definitely go with a older bigger female. Females should be around the 1500g mark before breeding. The general rule is 3 years for a female to reach maturity and breeding weight. Males only have to be 500-600g and usually can reach that weight in a year. Hope this helps.

for that amount you might aswell buy a baby albino female

Why? If you pick up a breedable 100% het albino female and breed her to an albino or het albino, you'll most likely end up with an albino baby. And on top of that, you'll still have the female and all of the offspring.

If you opt for the albino baby now, you'll have to wait 2-3 years before you can breed it. Large females are hard to come buy, especially if they are het for something.

For the amount you will pay for a proven adult het female, you could almost get a pair of 06 visual albinos. Also, most breeders will not sell off adult breeders unless their is a reason. I would be very wary of buying an adult female het unless you really trust the source.

I think all the rules apply either way. Be careful and research. I have a 1000 gram female going myself. But when I first sold her, she was only 500 grams and then the buyer backed out. But John makes a valid point. With 2 visuals, you know what you are getting, even if you have to wait to breed them.

I would have no worries buying a 1000g female from you, but would you still be willing to sell her after she was large enough to breed and proven? I know for me I would never sell a proven female. It just seems like throwing a lot of future money away for a small amount of immediate money. I actually bought an 05 female het albino from you and she is doing great. It is obvious you do not believe in maintenance feeding. She was around 850g when I got her last winter and is already up to almost 1250g. I'm hoping she gives me an albino or 2 next season.

That would be great! I love seeing little albinos. For me, I'm "stretched" on space. I literally had tubs stacked on tubs. That just isn't fair to the snakes and damn what a PITA. I'm out of rack space. And not space to put snakes, but space to put racks LOL. I need a giant warehouse. Of course the wife would not have it. I have been working different morphs into my breeding plans, but that means moving other things out. My hatchling racks will be completely full by August. Then it's back to stacking those tubs. It's really a pain for cleaning. At any rate, how about posting a pic of that girl. If I remember correctly, she was one of my favorites.

I'll try to get a pic of her after work. I think I am the only person left out there that is still too cheap to buy a digital camera. I think she would probably be over 1500g already, but she decided to go off feed through the winter. The male is also doing good. I think he would eat every day if I let him.

Glad to hear! I'll look forward to the pics. So we should see some albinos from you soon then. That will be great!

It all depends on your goal, your finances, and what you have now? If you have adult normal females, you might want to get a baby or yearling Albino MALE, and breed him asap to the normal females, producing your own hets. OR, buy yourself a nice Het female from 05, and try to get a male Het Albino thrown in when you buy the female. I would stay away from trying to buy a nice adult female Het Albino, for many reasons.
