My Dandi, the female sheepdog pup was very ill this morning (3 in the mornign) from both ends. VERY severe non stop. We took her to the vet and they felt an obstruction but could not see through tests, they think she was an ornery pup and ate somthing she should not have and it's now a blockage.

Shes being operated on now, it's been a hell of a week or 2 around the forum fo rmany of us with our critters.

I will pop in when I can

you tell that dandi to keep away from bad things. my friend's pug ripped apart her rope tug of war toy and ate it and one of the big ones too. they were able to just sedate her and pull it out.

i hope she is feeling better soon!

something else, and they found no foreign bodies that she ate. It was a telescoping of the intestines called Intruseception (sp.)

can be caused from hook worm or foreign bodies lodgeds or gastrointestinal problem well not worms, and no objects lodges so we have to watch her. They did operate and put a loop in the intestine so it can not move again (atleast in that place.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH going nuts!

May get her home tomorrow , but she is doing good

Weird, I was waiting to hear she ate a tennis ball or somthing. Could she have got into some plants eating em or somthing like that? Anyways, Iam glad she is doing good! =)

That happened to my nephew's dog, except they ended up removing some large thing from his intestines. They couldn't even identify it. I hope she makes a quick recovery and leaves her stiches alone!

You scared the heck out of me, Eve. I read the first post on my tiny Palm Treo screen, and didn't see that you had posted an updated telling us she was okay. Boy am I relieved to hear that. I hope to goodness that it does not happen again. My thoughts are with you and Dandi tonight.

We are going nuts we got Dandi home, she has staples in her tummy and had to be seperated from her brother Bear, no jumping , running, playing for 2 weeks. We bought a 4 foot cage and have it in our bedroom (with her) Shes doing awesome

Last night (Fri) about 11:30 the male pup Bear, started with the same damn sickness, terrible runs, constant throwing up, lethargic, and laying their crying. We had to wait until 8 this morning for our Vet to open. They took him right away.

It was like a nightmare, same thing all over again with the 2nd pup two days later. (how could this be) how can ya catch a telescoping intestines from yoru sister??? Thats waht we were faced with.

Anyway they are keeping Bear an doing all kinds of tests and bloodwork as they atleast do not feel the same blockage in his tummy as they did with Dandi. She may have started with a bacterial thing and it did damage to her intestine. And he may have caught the bacterial thing from her, but it has not done the same damage. ???????????????????

This is what they are thinking as of now. Meantime it's been a hellish few days, we are tossing old toys disinfecting everything, these pups are ZAPPING our energy(physically and mentally. But boy are they adorable.
