Typical wild banded California Kings - they often have what I like to call "horseshoe bands" that are two brown bands that join together to make a horse shoe. Usually it happens where the bands change direction. IE if < is the head - < / / /
/ and / where the bands join together at the angle are what I'm calling a "horshoe band".
One of my little guys has one that is actually several horse shoe's - 3 of them together. It's fairly close to his head - < / ///
I'm curious if anyone has attempted - or succesfully - bred a Cal King that has continuous - or almost continuos - horseshoes over its entire body.
Is that a trait that even can be bred for? I assume to try you would want to pick specimens that have a high count of horseshoes to begin with - but I'm not sure that it really is something that can be bred for per se.
