UPS... Where is my snake?

senorsnake Jun 30, 2006 10:53 AM

I was supposed to have a snake arrive this morning (half an hour ago).. but UPS fell through. Now, normally I wouldn't be too concerned, but the track informations last scan was the pick up in CA, which is nowhere near Chicago. How common is this?

Call thier customer service number for tracking, if you talk to an actual person, they sometimes have more info than what the on-line tracking, plus they can contact the hubs directly and track it down. Good luck, and hope they come through and get it to you..

also, if you call them, it's prob not a good idea to mention it's a snake. From what I've heard, UPS won't knowingly ship them.

You can get verified for shipping snakes via UPS, but it can be a pain. Anyway, luckily we found the snake, they never got sent out of their origin destination and are on their way back to the seller til we can rearrange a new date.

i was told a few years back that UPS doesnt ship "live" animals from a UPS rep on the phone, however i was getting "live" crickets thru them, she told me crickets were NOT animals......... i guess they are plants. then i told her that i was at CalZoo and saw a UPS machine that printed out labels for them to attatch to their boxes of "live" reptiles at which point she asked "what is your name?"...click....... anyway my UPS guy told me they recently had some policy changes and will accept some live animals but NO snakes, they even have a sign at the pick up counter (UPS produced) with a cartoon drawn snake along with a gun and explosives....boy these snakes get a bad rap! john yocum

It can freak you out a bit, I have been there. After it happens enought times though you kind of get used to it, not that you ever like it! Sometimes they get put on the wrong truck or flight, and take an extra day. To this day I have never had one snake die in transit coming or going (knock on wood)

If it was shipped with a guaranteed delivery time and doesn't show at that time or pretty close to it, you can get your shipping free. Contact the person that shipped let them know whats up and have them file it as delivery failure. Might want to wait untill the snake actualy shows though. They tend to get things done faster when they think they are getting paid for it.

He arrived today at 8:30 am, was supposed to be here yesterday at 10:30am. He never left the original hub, and we finally got it worked out for them to ship him for this morning by noon. I get paranoid about shipping, I guess we've had so few animals shipped and the first one that we had died in transit so I always worry.

I must have been thinking fedex for being verified, my bad. I get the carriers mixed up sometimes.
