Is Vermiculite ok to use in a nesting box? Just wondering what people typically use.

Also, when is the Daytona show?

I know people use vermic in boxes.I never would....it sticks to females (everything)...and it's nasty stuff...

use sphagnum moss ,dead and dried ,slightly damp.or shagnum peat moss same damp only.......care fresh has been used by me dampened...it molds up sooner though.......

this year I have just put cypress in the whole box and left the girl lay wherever she wanted to..she was too big for a nest box......just used a piece of newspaper and she dropped them in the box under the paper......on cypress....

dampened paper towels even would work.....

Hello, I have had the best luck using groung pressed coconut bark. Rehydrate per directions on package. It seems to hold moisture 1-2 months with out excess drying. I have all of my hides/egg laying boxes with this substrate and I have corns hatching right now that have been kept in the origional lay box as I just swap them out.

to stick to any snakes as to cause problems. But then there is a size difference on some vermiculite. I have used the larger size of pieces with no problems as to the pre-laying of eggs and female. This is with all of my colubrids and not pythons though.
