Dragon Size and Weight

Mrez Jun 30, 2006 04:15 PM

I've asked this question in the past, but since I recently got a hold of an acurate scale..thought I would ask again. My dragon is probably 10-11 months old though I can;t be 100% on this. He is 15 inches long and weight in at 311 grams. He doesn't scrawny or underfed He just looks..well small. I've seen some big dragons out there and just kinda curious how long it takes for a dragon to get that big.

Extremely difficult to say. Being 15" at 11 months old is on the small size, but some dragons just do not get as big as others due to many factors. It could simply just be genetics and nothing to do with husbandry factors. A picture of your dragon now will be a better indication for us to see if he looks a healthy weight. However at 311g he doesn't sound light for his size.

He could still grow a few more inches over the next 6 months but typically after that, dragons are done with their growth for the rest of their lives.

that scares me. My dragon will be a year in august. and she is oly 15 and a half, but almost 500 grams. shes a tubby girl.
she did go through about a month and a half where she refused to eat because of the temperature. but is ravenous as ever now. I believe shes beginning to shed again, but she hasnt shed in two almost three months. and it worries me. I want her to grow her full size and not be stunted. *sniffles*

the weights sounds about right, even on the heavy size for length. it may just be a genetic thing with their length. its not a problem at all, just a smaller sized dragon. i have a female that is on the small size but hopefully will get bigger in the next few months.

Here is twopictures of my boy Whip. They were taken towards then end of May. I don't have the actualy length and weight for him at that time, but he is a little longer now then he was then I think...

Looks nice and healthy to me, not over weight or underweight at all as far as I can tell. I think he may be longer than 15" though, but hard tell from pictures unless a known sized object is present (ie like a ruler LOL)

As long as he looks nice and healthy, that was my main concern. AS for measuring him..well he won;t sit still long enough...but I measured my forarm and hand length and is about 15 inches..and my forearm is Whips most favorite place to sit.

But anyrate..at 11 months or so i can expect a little more growth from him..assuming he is a bit on the small side?
