Veileds are one of the most forgiving reptiles, I've found.

They come from a habitat (Yemen) that has inconsistent, or at least quite dry, weather all the time, with some rainfalls giving them only temporary humidity.

So, in a nutshell, you're providing enough temporary humidity misting once a day. They could get by being misted once every three days, but stick to once a day.

I don't use a humidifier. I mist my veileds and provide a drip system for them although I have heard of people having success using a humidifier too. You just have to be sure to keep them clean.

"Because veiled chameleons come from Saudia Arabia and Yemen it is sometimes assumed that their hydration requirements are less demanding than those of most other chameleons. The fact is, however, that these animals are most abundant in mountainous coastal regions where rainfall can be heavy and even in the absence of rain, fog conditions create significant condensation. The animals drink the dew off of leaves and other wet surfaces. Veiled chameleons require the same regimen of misting and drip systems as do most other chameleons."

I have to disagree. How many times you mist depends on the humidity level in the cage and the house, not only the cham species. 30-40% is fairly low, and veileds are usually found in humid coastal scrub forests near the coastlines, not the drier interior of Yemen. A humidifier can reduce the amount of misting you have to do and how much your cham needs to drink, and can give the humidity level a boost during times you are not home (vacations, work, etc). It's best not to make a general statement about "mist once a day", as everyone's climate and setup are different. Measure the humidity in the cage, both how low it gets and how high. You MAY need a humidifier cycling on a lamp timer to keep your cage around 50%, or you may not. Sometimes veileds "decide" not to use their drippers as much and you could have a moderately dehydrated cham without realizing it until problems come up (I lost my first cham, a cbb veiled to chronic low level dehydration...caused kidney failure). As long as the humidity isn't constantly high it won't hurt.
