Lingo question

donedeal Jul 01, 2006 03:29 PM

when I read posts from breeders, they say the word Het.
What does this word mean?

Het is short for heterozygous. It means that a snake carries the gene for a particular morph, but doesnt look like that animal. So if you have a snake that is het for albino, it will look normal, but be able to pass on the albino gene. It can get more confusing once you get into it, but that is the basic way to look at it. Hope that helps.
