blankminded Jul 01, 2006 09:29 PM

I was out with my girlfriend walking around and found this lil guy between some rocks. I just moved to norther NY (Oswego county) from CA. Im guessing its an Eastern Garter. It was really blue with black checkers.

I have a friend who lives/lived in Oswego County, there is a nice array of snake species in the area.

Thats what i hear. Ive only been here a short time so far but ive found a few garters, ribbons, and water snakes. Im still looking for eastern milks, browns, ringnecks, and redbellies. I know theres alot of sallys in these parts so im hoping to find them aswell. ive only found redbacks, northern duskys and slimys so far. i would love to find some spoted and blues here soon.

i will diff do that. Right now i live in the city of Oswego. I havent had a decent herp trip since ive been here. Ive walked the trails at beaver lake and rice creek. Thats pretty much where ive seen most of the herps. It would be nice to herp with someone who knows the area as im used to herping southern CA. Its alot different out here.LoL This coming up week (10th-17th) ill be spending 5 or 6 days in the adirondacks on a camping trip with my girlfriend and her parents. Im hoping on doing as much herping as i can. Its fun cus just about every herp i see around here is a lifer for me. but, when i get back we can deff set soemthign up and do some herping.
