Chondros, like many snake species, should not be housed together at any age. With the exception of breeding, they are not social creatures.

You could probably build one that is 2ftX2ftX2ft, should be good. Just make it higher than anything else. I agree with the last statement..I dont believe your supposed to house them together.

What do you mean by higher chondrolove? Do you mean vertically? I believe Greg M. suggests more horizontal space than vertical as they get more areas to adjust to temp that way. I will be building a 36L X 24W X 24H when we get in our new house for Tempest.

It is not advisable to put two chondros into the same cage unless trying to breed them, and never put two male chondros together. They could possibly fight.

However, this does not mean that you can not keep chondros together. There are people who do, and they swear by it. The reasons why people say do not keep chondros together are because of stress on both snakes, possibility of passing a sickness on to both snakes instead of just one if house seperately, the harder it is to feed while both are looking for food, and so forth. Ideally it is best to keep snakes in seperate enclosures.

As for cage size, there is no set cage size. The bigger the cage, the harder it is to keep the heat and humidity in line of where it needs to be. You can have an entire room as a cage if you can heat it properly. Just keep that in mind. I have a couple odds and ends cage sizes, but I have gone to 24x18x18 for all of my adult cages. Most chondros will use the top perch available in the cage. It doesnt matter how tall the cage is. If you keep two chondros together, the more dominant snake will take the best spot in the cage, while the other chondro is left to a different spot. If you do keep two chondros together, you will want a bigger cage so each snake has several options on where to perch.

As for cage size so they can thermo regulate, I have chondros who stay on the cold side nearly 100% of the time, while others stay more near the middle. Some will use the basking spot but not that often. Keep that in mind when buying cages.
