Basically you have told us nothing.

You didnt even tell us what type of chameleon it it. Or how old.

Give us a photo. Or at the very least a species and we will tell you how to sex it.

Veiled?

Male veiled chameleons have a "toe" on the back of their called a "tarsal spur" which can be clearly seen from birth and so it makes sexing them quite easy.

Females do not have tarsal spurs.

Tarsal spur A small projection on the posterior part of the hind leg just above the ankle. In some species the presence or absence of the tarsal spur is diagnostic of the animal's sex.

Since its an egglaying female, I recommend that you provide her with a suitable place to lay her eggs if she is over 6 months of age. Females can lay eggs without being mated and can die eggbound if they have no suitable place to lay them.

Also, I recommend that you don't overfeed her if she is over 8 months of age.

What species is it? Chams don't change color if they eat or not. They change color to show emotion (fear, aggression, too cold, too hot) or stress. Sounds like you should read the cham info pages listed at the top of this forum. They will give you correct keeping info and probably help you identify what you have.
