Last night my brother and i decided to go up to Plattevill Colorado to do a little nighttime herping. when we got there it was already sundown and still warm. while patrolling the dirt roads out by pelican lake we saw DORs all over most were bull/gopher snakes, and plains spadefoot toads. a few were prarie rattlers and one box turtle and a yellow bellied racer. there were also smashed Kangaroo rats and jackrabbits. we didnt see anything alive until around midnight where we found a midsized rattler just coiled up along a really overgrown sandy side road. we moved it off the road took some pictures and continued after a few more hours we were getting tired and almost decided to go to sleep and resume in the morning then around 2am we found a young western Hognose! we were exicted and decided to stay out the rest of the night which turned out to be great, around 4 am we found a Milk snake just kindda goin into a bush ^_^ and then at sunrise box turtles started appearing everywhere! we had a great time. unfortunately my digital cameras screen is smashed so i have to use the viewfinder which makes the picture different than you see. so i brought the hognose and milk home for a while so i can get some good pictures of them, and i shal post them soon. all in all this was the best herping trip that ive done in a while.
sweet thanks for reading,
Keith
