Mystery Snake visitor

cindy r Jul 03, 2006 01:28 AM

Greetings All – I know this visitor is not a rattlesnake and you Crotalidae folks are probably not too interested , but he was a very cool snake who spent several hours in my tortoise pen before flying up and over the fence and tortoise visual barrier. If someone has an idea of what he is I will post to the correct forum, but I know you folks who do not live here in snake country do appreciate the encounters we locals (just north of Phoenix) enjoy every day.

PS - I give up trying to post multiple pictures. I'll add more messages with his head and a full length picture.

agreed since I dont think P.c.sayi (bullsnake) occur in pheniox. Granted, they are close to the ame exact snake anyway and do intergrade naturaly. The head throws me off becuase its a little bulkier then your typical sonoran.

In either way your Torts are safe lol

Gophersnakes are pretty common in phoenix and the surrounding area. He was probably looking for a little bit of water and a shady spot to rest for a bit.
