nbrenner Jul 03, 2006 10:27 AM

weve recently produced a clutch of burms, granite het albino female to an albino het granite male. we got 17 hatchlings. one of the granite het albinos was born with one eye. It is just scaled over were the eye normally would be. will post pics soon, im just curious to find out if anyone else has one of these or has heard of one.

We rescued a male albino burm and a female normal from the same place last year and the female apparently came in gravid because she laid about 30 eggs without being introduced to a male in our care. I'm guessing it was a result of inbreeding or the mother being sick while the eggs developed (both came down with nasty URI's right after we got them) but all of the babies came out with either no eyes (in the same manner you described), 1 eye, or two GIANT eyes. Most of the babies didn't survive all the way out of the egg. The ones that did only made it a few weeks before having to be euthanized.

we rescued one once. a big albino female. She was about 15 ft. Her eye was like that- her name was popeye. She ate fine, had a great disposition, and was an all around wonderful snake. Some times they live long healthy lives- some times they barely make it out of the egg.
