well carpets are tree pythons so it would be best to get him (or her) a vertical tank suitable for placing climbing branches in. usually i try to get a tank as best to half the snake's length. so if it were me i would go with a tank that is about 12"x18"x24". the 24" being the vertical height of the tank which will allow for climbing. room for full body elongation in the vertical sense is not required since most arboreal herps tend to coil themselves on branches and other items when not on terra forma.

well, considering that jayas are the smallest of the carpets (maxing out at about 4-5 feet) i would say that it would more than likely be okay but thats not gospel. a tank that size should brove to be of good enough size for the most part of the snake's life but there may be a time that you feel it should receive larger housing. many factors come into consideration. such as, is it a male or female? females grow to be longer and in most cases larger (girth) than males. how much time does it spend in the branches? on the ground? depending upon the size of your jaya after 2-3 years, you may end up having to purchase either a taller or wider tank depending upon the habits of your snake. how much space? this is also a question to ask in a few years. if your carpet's branches cannot support the weight of your snake and there is no room to put larger branches in, then it may be time to upgrade to a larger tank. but for the most part, i wouldnt worry too much about what tank size your snake will need in the years to come. you can cross that bridge when you get to it.

Its a female.
really thx for all the info, Carpets arent really common here.

i didnt mean they are literally always on the branches. they do spend some time on the ground. even a couch potato has to get up to use the bathroom and/or get a drink sometimes.
