going on vacation question??????????????

ballfreak Jul 03, 2006 03:43 PM

hello all i will be going away soon for 8 days and i only have 1 person who is willing to change the water for my three ball pythons but he refuses to remove any waste my snakes leave. mainly due to him being nervous to put his hands in and phsyically remove the [bleep] with my snakes in the racks. so my question is i know they can do well without food for weeks but what do i do about the [bleep] they may laeve whlie im gone? also they usually [bleep] in there hide so i really cant have my snakes hiding in there with that? any suggestions would be appreciated. im guessing to not feed them 7 days before i go away so they will have an empty stomach and feed when i get back that would be 2 weeks without food and only water. thanks for any suggestions.

People may disagree but my OPINION is this. Even those your animals are captive they are animals. In there borrows they [bleep] and piss and live in it to an extent. Its 8 days. They will be fine. If you are that worried I would skip feeding a week or two before you leave. Granted I haven¡¦t gone on vacation for more than 3 or 4 days at a time. also try soaking them too. That usually helps knock it loose ƒº.

just don't feed for at least 2 weeks before you leave. If the snakes are kept warm they should digest all meals before going on vacation. If they haven't had a large stool 2 nights before you leave, give them a good soak and that should give you a nice surprise before you leave. 3 weeks without a meal will not hurt any healthy ball python.

Just a friendly inquiry... Does anybody here wonder why the snake is pooping in its own hide box? Mine never do. Normally animals never poop where they rest/sleep. It suggests to me that the rest of the cage may be too cold for its comfort if he won't poop outside of the box.
Just a friendly input from another ball keeper.

leave some gloves for your friend and tell him quit being a b***h....
just joking.

Now, picture this.

Snakey hasn't eaten for 2 weeks, friend sticks nice warm hand in cage to get water bowl, snake thinks "rat!" water bowl gets flying lesson, snake now has no water, friend will never come over ever again.

Get a litter box pooper scooper and let the snake eat and poop.
