Wow! Baby finally hatches on day 100!

I am so excited! I can't believe I have a baby! I knew at 82 degrees it would take longer, but as the days went by, I was becoming increasingly convinced that I was not going to end up with any babies. My husband was getting on my case for incubating a bunch of "dead" eggs, but when I went in to check on them a few hours ago, I found a baby! He is so cute and tiny and seemingly perfect!

At first, I thought he was dead. He wasn't moving - not even when I gently touched him. I picked him up and still - he didn't move. I gently stroked his back and, all of a sudden, he moved. I was dancing around the house screaming, "He's alive! He's alive!"

I am still hoping some of the others hatch. A few are obviously gone, but most look big and perfect! Whatever happens, I have at least one baby!

WOW!

Wow way to go!! 100 days is a long time even at 82. I incubate at around 82, and very rarely do any go past 70. The babies are extremely tired when they first come out of the egg. Some may look dead right out of the egg, but give them an hour or two and they will be little spit fires.

It was pretty scary at first - they sure did look dead. But I have 12 hatched so far, and you hit the nail on the head, all but one is a total spit fire! It's amazing something so tiny can have so much attitude and energy! One is extremely tiny and a bit weak, but he's ok for now. I have to give him a drink with a syringe every hour or so. I hope he makes it!

Wow. I still can't believe I have my babies! There sure is something to be said for not giving up!

Thanks,
Lisa
