Help New Rudis Just Gave Birth

manog Jul 03, 2006 08:28 PM

Hello,

Just bought a Rudis today and she gave birth just now to 4 hatchlings. They seem to be doing fine in there with the male and the female but i am nervous about it. What kind of set up do they need at this stage? Can a tank work for now?

Any help will be appreciated!

I would separate the babies from the parents. I would also keep the parents separate unless the cage is large.

Here is a site with some information...

Good luck with them all!

How are they doing?

manog Jul 06, 2006 03:58 PM

Thanks for your help. Your advice went along with my gutt instinct. They are doing really well. Cute little guys and not very shy! They have been eating FF like crazy and drinking well. Right now i have them in a rubbermaid with holes all over the place. It is working well - well ventilated but still holding some humidity. I am thinking of making an all screen cage but this seems to be working really well. I have bred corn snakes and gecko's but i love this live birth thing!!!!
Thanks again for your help!

Quick question:

Are C.Sternfeldi and Rudis the same? I am having trouble finding out because it seems people use either or? Are they just sub species of eachother. I bought mine as just "rudis" but have come across other names in my research.

You asked..."Are C.Sternfeldi and Rudis the same?"...here's some information on them...

There's a little bit in this site too...

And some pictures and other information...

You will have to use the "find in this page" option or scan down for it in this last one.

Hope this helps! Glad to hear they are doing well! They are not easy to raise to adulthood.

Wow! Thanks for all the info!!!! I really appreciate all of your help. These little babies are so entertaining to watch! So far all four are showing signs of thriving. I am crossing my fingers that it will continue.

Thanks again,
