San Diego County

Hi, I am in San Diego County this week, more specifically the Bonsall, area staying with family. I'm looking to herp the area but have no means of roadcruising and basically can only herp within walking distance. The San Luis Rey river is within walking distance but I am not sure if this is a good place to look. The development I am staying in is built on an avocado orchard also so most of the hill is covered in avocado trees, would this be good to search in? I havent been successful so far but it seems possible. I'd like to find really any snakes. How should I try to herp in the area?

I'm about 10 minutes from you, and you're in a GREAT area for snakin!

The San Luis Rey is CRAWLING with gophers, ca kings, and pacific rattlers...

My daugther rides horses out there- I hate horses, but LOVE going out to where she rides to look for snakes! Unfortunately, I see DOR's out there all the time...

So I should just walk around the river at any time and should be able to find stuff crawling?
