Nelsons Milksnake Question

grvdigr Jul 03, 2006 10:37 PM

A clutch of these hatched out, and several of them have shed thier first time. Can anyone tell what is going on with the coloration towards the tail. All of them have it, some more than others.

Jim~
From here it appears to be a typical "aberrant" color pattern which is becoming quite common in several species of captive bred milksnakes. This type of aberration doesn't seem to have any relationship to the health of the animal, so there's nothing to worry about. Some keeper/breeders try to breed aberrancies into their collections while others work to breed breed them out. Just one of those personal preference things.
Take care.

Dale.

I agree with Dale - it's a pattern abberancy that seems to be popping up with more frequency. I've seen it in a few different types of milks.

My pair of Hets both have it--I just figured it was an abberancy.
