I'm currently finishing up a 7 foot long 3 foot deep and 2 foot high enclousure for one of my burms. I used melamine wood for all the sides but the front. On the front I used two by fours and slotted them on a table saw for the plexi glass. Make sure you have a front opening cage that opens downward. Total costs minus heat lamps and bulbs, temp and humidity guages, and soaking pool, were right around 200 bucks. Home Depot will cut any wood you buy and the plexi glass. All you really need as far as tools is a good power drill, and a jigsaw to cut circular holes for lamp fixtures. Make sure any glue you use is safe for your pet. Also make sure it is well secured with one or more locks(I used three).Home made enclousers are the way to go if you don't have deep pockets. If I do start a large scale breeding project, I'm going to look into stackable vision cages though. Good Luck!

Hi..
I started building my burm an enclosure a few months ago and I am still not completely finished. The one I made is 10'x30"x30" built out of two 5'x30" halves bolted together. I used Russian Birch plywood and 2x10's for the frame. I choose the Russian Birch for several reasons but the main one is it comes in sheets of 5'x5' which would maximize use of all the sheets. The russian birch is also visually flawless. The two doors are fold-down in the front and two large viewing windows are in inside them with plexiglas. I coated the inside with polycrylic(WB polyurethane) to protect from moisture. On the floor I layed vinyl flooring and a few inches up the walls. I sealed it with a 100% clear silicone caulking.(You can't see it in the picture but it's there in every corner/seam). I temporarily capped one half of the cage off to put it up for the test of holding heat/humidity/burm. I have housed him in this enclosure for about a month now and it works perfect so far. Below is a link with some pics of my project.
