Lost my last Yarrow's this morning

Esther Jul 04, 2006 10:11 AM

I checked in on my Yarrow's-plateau lizard tank this morning and my ancient male was finally gone. He had a good run, he was 6 or 7 years old. He had been refusing food and off-color for some days, and I knew he was basically dying of old age.

He was a fabulous pet, gave me many hours of entertainment. I guess that's the best anyone could say of a pet lizard. I will miss him a lot .

If anyone has any extra Yarrow's, they would surely find an appreciative home here.

I will ask around to see if I can locate some for you. I wouldn't mind getting a pair or trio myself again.

sorry to hear he's gone. My female didn't make it this year either.

Nope, never heard from Terry. I hope everything is OK with him.

Too bad about your girl. I had this guy from a pup--actually born in my tank from a wc female, along with his recently deceased sister.

I would welcome a new pair of Yarrow's. Oh, yeah.

And, if anyone wants any Podarcis sicula, which are anole-sized and very beautiful, I could catch you a pair. But they are NOT for any outdoor enclosure, being non-indigs. They are very small lacertids with Komodo sized attitude! My newly-caught 1.2, caught about 3 weeks ago, are just now starting to come out and be visible, and not go spooky if I walk past the tank. They have finally caught on to the connection between "mommy" and food. I'm crazy about them!

I will be coming out to Denver end of the month. 'Sposed to drive down to NM and hook up with Ian while I'm Out West. Hopefully we can see some nice stuff, but the drought may ruin it .

If you also run across any male utas and a male greater earless, they would also be very welcome, as the drought may make it very iffy on my brief foray. I got 0.2 utas at a recent reptile show (at least they have a good home with me, some kid didn't buy them who didn't know how to care for them) and a pair of greater earless. The male greater earless died soon after I got him, I believe from transport stress. So now my little gal is a widow. She's the CUTEST thing you ever saw. She got herself up a new trick: she waits for the 1" plastic tube I slide crickets down into their feeding bowl from the bag, and gets most of the crickets on first bounce. When she looks like a golf ball, she lets someone else (usually the female zebra tail, waiting next in line) to jump into the feeding bowl. You'd have to see this to believe it, it's so cute!
