boa not eating after breeding

BCBurm Jul 04, 2006 11:55 AM

My 8 foot female red tail has not ate in 3 months shortly after breeding with my male . Temps mid to hi 80s and humitity 50 to 70% .
She seems helthy and no loose skin. She does look gravid.
Should I worry? my vet does not treat snakes and i cant find one that does around here.

The male in the cage with her is eating fine. the cage is 4x4x6 feet.

eat. This is normal. But man your temps are way too low guy.She needs a 90 degree hot spot an since she may be gravid it wouldnt hurt to raise her hot spot up to about 92,in my opinion that is.Hope this helps,Eric[Hypoboa]

Thanks for your reply . I do have 2 100 watt lights a one end of the cage . One is 12 on 12 off the other is red and stays on 24/7.

what counts is how warm it is. The warm side should be at least 88, and the hot spot 92-95 by day. Your babies will be harmed or distroyed by temps too low.
