My panther chameleon use to live outside in the shade of Tampa weather were the humidty is often 80% . Does humidity make that much of a difference on the amount of water consumtion of a chameleon? I ask because when he lived outdoors I'd water down his cage with a hose 3 times a day and never witnessed him drink off of the leaves.. ever. Paranoid I would squirt water into his mouth (a very small amount) whenever I would feed him after a week of noticing this behavior. Now that I have moved him into my room because of the extreme heat I witness him drinking about 3-4 times a day. I have noticed this the past 3 days since he has been in my room. Is this because of the stress of entering a new environment that has dehydrated him?

If you are using an a/c in the house than it will obviously be considerably drier leading him to be thirsty. If he is drinking everytime you mist i woulf increase the mists and add a dripper if you havent already.

Air conditioning really takes out the moister and can even dehydrate humans quickly.
