Gravid questions?

python36 Jul 04, 2006 01:10 PM

I am just starting to breed these great geckos and I am rotating my male between the 4 cages of females i have, (I really want to know who the mother is). Anyways he has been in a cage with 2 females that look a lot a like. What i want to know is will I be able to tell that the females are gravid, will there be visible signs? Will I be able to see the eggs through the belly.

My breeder cages consist of 1 male and 3 females .Its very easy to tell which one is about to lay . 1 or 2 days before they actually lay they begin tuneling and digging in the substrate.
This occurs beginning about sundown and goes for hours.

The laying process is not quick lasting hours... another chance to see mama .

Then after she lays she hides the eggs and remains on top of the spot for most of the night.

So basically you have 2 or 3 nights to spot her about to lay..if you get in the habit of misting after sundown 90% of the time youll see right then.
