Reptile BirthdayParty/a little off topic

jjl Jul 04, 2006 06:31 PM

My little girl just had her 4th birthday, and we decided to do a Reptile Party as the theme. Everyone at the party (adults and children) had a blast. We had a few different types of snakes, lizards, and tortoises. Just about everyone left the party a little more comfortable around reptiles than when they got there. Here's a picture of my little girl with my Eastern Indigo.

Oh fantastic looking cake. Your wife did a great job the 'grass" around it is fantastic touch.
If it wasnt that my daughers are 13 and 14 I would bake something like that for a party . Might do it anyway lol.
Enjoy these years because as she gets older and talks about boys with her friends your black hair might turn as white as mine has lol.

Jeff,
Tell your wife that she is THE WOMAN! I love the cake and appreciate the amount of love and labor that went into it. I've sculpted coiled snake rounds and turtle shaped rolls out of bread dough, then baked them for herp parties. I also sculpted a 2 foot long iguana out of rye bread dough, and used green dyed almond slices for scales. Different types of herbs and seeds make awesome decorations for various herp-depicted breads.

Kids really like Pb&J on a whole wheat turtle roll with raisin eyes and a tiny gerkin pickle mouth. Adults prefer smoked turkey or pastrami on sliced iguana bread. I coiled the snake shaped bread around a basket of hard-boiled (chicken) eggs, with bowls of other toppings on the side. Imagination is the limit!
Wish I could find the pics--will post them if I do.
Once again--cudos for the tricolor cake!!! Yay, Mom!!!
rgds,
althea

Jeff,

If you are sharing a table make sure to get the Florida license from Fish and Game. They checked (did a sting) last year and busted people sharing without a license.

they checked the three years i was vending there. the last thing i wanted (next to getting pulled over in GA with a vehicle full of kingsnakes) was to be an out of stater and have a problem with f&g
