I used to exchange emails with a guy who made a huge naturalistic vivaria from plaster. He used Envirotex Lite as his final sealer. IIRC he dabbed it on with a brush. But that was because he had multiple waterfalls and pools.

How much moisture will your plaster be exposed to?

Hi Chris, the plaster will be subject to little moisture , i made fake rocks for a desert setup, if it works out well i would like to make rock ledges from it. Where can i get envirotex lite, i have looked at Lowes but didnot find it.

I would not use envirotex lite unless I really need the protection. I would be concerned with it looking a bit shiny.

For a desert environment you might go with something that would be easy to touch up every now and then. Even something like shellac would offer some protection not to mention be super easy to re-apply as needed.

I would look into some acrylic based grout sealers. That would probably be my first choice.

Regardless, I have found Envirotex Lite at Craft Stores, Hobby Stores, Menards and Ace Hardware. I have also found very similar bar top epoxies at Lowes and Home Depot.
