hello..Ive been considering buying a bearded dragon and i was just wondering..
Could i keep my bearded dragon in the basement...
it gets cold because i live in washington..
And the bearded dragon would stay in my room in a 40 gallon breeder until it outgrows it and when i build a custom cage...
If i kept it in the basement how could i provide extra heat..
night lamps and UTH?..
the custom cage will be made of wood..

thanx..

Providing it never drops below 60F in the basement at night, you won't really need additional heating. Daytime temps will have to be raised so it maintains an ambient temp of 80F and a basking temp of 95-115F.

If your basement has a small enclosed room or isn't that big, you can just heat the room with a space heater, one that has a built in thermostate you can set to come on when the temp drops to a certain temp.

Otherwise, you can use night time heat bulbs, a UTH etc but make sure they cannot over heat the tank by hooking them up to a thermostat (rheostat).
