whats the best way to hand feed my gecko. He sees the food on my hand and walks toward it, licks my hand and backs away.

The best way to hand feed your gecko is with tongs. Training any reptile to associate your hand with food is like asking to be bitten in the long run. Granted, with a leopard gecko, it's unlikely to cause much (if any) damage, but it's not a habit you want to get them into, so always use a long pair of tongs if you insist on hand feeding. I prefer to let mine hunt live crickets, it's a more natural way for them to eat...

Sounds like you have never been bitten by a gecko! My male took a huge chunk of flesh off my finger once. He did more damange then when I was bit by a 10ft Burmese Python.

Back to the question. I feed my male with mealworms with tweezers. He won't eat from a dish and will only eat if I am holding for him. I just hold near him on the ground. He won't take from the air. It has to be in contact with the ground. He will eat 15 at a time every 3 days or so.
