thanks for looKING

that is like a diner slurping down spaghetti. i was expecting a pic with blood and guts. remember when there were the flame wars over eastern kings vs. indigos and someone posted a bloody pic of a texas indie trashing a king?
>>
i never saw the indigo vs. king pic/pics, it would'nt bother me anyway, certainly not enough to get involved in a flame war.
anyway here's some blood

and here's some guts

thanks, that made my day.
Some day i'll post a pic of muttly chowin down on a indigo if i can find a dead one cheap enuff.
That doesn't seem like a fair fight to me - every Indigo snake I have seen, granted all captive, have had far more girth to them than any King Snake I've ever seen.
Indigo Snakes are gorgeous though. I prefer King Snakes, but I love Indigo snakes.

was that cal king sick? cool pics
No, not sick, just a case of carelessness on my part.
here's a more updated pic of "BUTCH"

and here's a sib to the unfortunate cali

JETZEN, here is a 2005 and 2006 pic of Orca, Butches brother from Jason (If I remember correctly). He was around 36" in the first pic now he is right at 48 and eating small adult rats! He is a killer as his name implies!

That baby snake, the one being eaten, displays the "multile horseshoe" that I am going to attempt to breed for - hoping for it to result down the entire back of the snake.
I kind of doubt it is something that can be bred for - and I have limited resources (snake) for a full blown program, but I am going to try to obtain specimens with a large number of horse shoes and see if there is a genetic tendency towards them among banded kingsnakes.
Fuzzy shot:

Can you imagine that squiggle patterning going down the entire length of the snake? I think it would be just gorgeous.

I have heard of that pattern in cal kings being called a "zipper" pattern. I don't know if anyone has tried to breed for it but I have seen some really nice examples online. Some have had had the zipper pattern from head to tail.
some wild cal king shots including a partial "zipper" pattern
Thanks!
Some of those pics showed quite a bit of it.
Zipper is probably more appropriate - I've been calling it hors-shoe because I've been attempting to describe my banded kingsnakes on paper (direction of bands, etc.), and where it only occurs with two bands - it resembles a zipper.
One thing I'm kind of curious about is how localities effect the number of bands, etc.

Oh you mean broken bands, some call it the zipper pattern.
And yes you could selectivly breed for that trait and that would be cool to have a variety of king that displayed the zipper pattern on it's entire dorsum.
I have a eastern that has quite a few broken bands.
