I do know that D&J reptiles has some killer looking black bloods. They have these REALLY orange heads. You should check those out. Ive never really had one so im not sure about their temperment but im sure its like your average blood, nippy at times but can be calm with handling. Im not sure on price but i think they can go from $180-$250 i wouldnt trust that. Thats a rough estimate. Hope this helps

I've had her for about 2 months now. Eats great and is getting fatter and fatter. She has a great temperment too. I love this snake. This is the first pic I have taken of her, and I need to get more recent ones as her head gets oranger and oranger! She is great.

I've heard P. curtus has the best temperment out of all three species. For buying one, I would go with the big names like VPI etc. I don't know the prices they would have in the US (I'm guessing thats where your from). And to help you searching for info, you should also look up the name Sumatran short-tailed python, since thats what their proper name is.
Hope this helps!

I love my black bloods, they can be very tame at times. I do not like to bother them too much but I can at pic them up and move them without getting bloody.

As far the true name they are actually Borneo short tailed pythons but that is niether here nor there.

If you do your homework they can be very rewarding, just remember you are looking at a snake that will be 4ft long and weigh 20 to 25 lbs, plus eat 3 lb rabbits or 3 jumbo rats. They are like mini burms when it comes to eating..LOL

Good luck

Hmmm, maybe you should be the one doing your homework! P. curtus comes from Sumatra, its P. breitensteini that comes from Borneo.
So P. curtus are called Sumatran short-tailed pythons and and P. breitensteini are called Borneo short-tailed pythons. I have no idea what the rest of that sentance is supposed to mean.
Hope this helps!

The "Black blood python", or "Black short tail" is not refered to as a "Borneo short tail" as "Borneo short tails" hail from mainland Borneo. "Black bloods" are however, refered to as "Sumatran short tails". Hope this clears this up. Lately, I've also witnessed the improper dubbing of the "Malaysian bloods", being erroneously called "Sumatran bloods", as the two subspecies are found in Sumatra proper; with the "Malaysian Bloods" being found to the North, and the "Black Bloods" or "Sumatran short tails", being found further south respectively.

They dont have a bad temper but some as youngings will strike alot untill they get used to being handled and pick up.Um Bob Clark has some pretty good looking ones but D&J have awesome ones and usually arouns 200-300 dollars......give er take a bit.
