Leucistics yellow over time?

romad119 Jul 06, 2006 10:04 AM

I am definitely interested in some all white snakes. A friend of mine said he has seen lucy rats thats yellow as they age? But I am seeing alot of pics where teh adults are still glowing white.

Any answers from actual keepers?

Thanks!

Never seen them "yellow" with age.If anything they get whiter. As hatchlings, mine were a tad on the pink side then turned very white as they matured.
Got 6 eggs in the incubator from my leucustic black rats with about 3 weeks to cook.I'm sure they will have the pinkish color when they first hatch.
Photo is of mom.

I wonder if your friend had actually seen snow corns. They are white but retain the cornsnake pattern. With age they often get yellow (or pink or green) under the chin and surrounding areas. Mine is white with yellow...a beautiful ratsnake. My Leucistic Texas ratsnake, however, is WHITE. He is a few years old now, several feet long...and also a beautiful ratsnake. If you are looking for WHITE...go for the Leucistic Tx. Don't be put off by the comments that they are "mean"...almost all will calm down for you with a little gentle handling. Duffy
