geraldsnakes Jul 06, 2006 12:05 PM

hi have a super tiger he is about 4 feet i have had him since he was 2 feet..it looks like some of his scales just started turning white. i have him in a jewlery case setup.. it 4x2x3' amd the hot end is about 94-95 and the cool end is around 88. He eats 1 large rat every week or so.. he also seem to be healthy and active he still eats, drinks, and deficates..does anyone have any experience with this or any comments..thanks

Please post a pic if possible, retics often change color as they age, turning white is more dramatic than usual however, unless piedballism is involved. BTW your cage temps are too hot, they would be ideal for a convalescing python. Better cage temps would be 80-82 cool-side / 84-86 hot side, anything over 90 isn't healthy unless the snake is sick or gestating.

I agree with Frank about the cage temps being a little high. The temps he suggested are right on. As far as your retic turing white, it may be a calico gene of some kind. If I remember correctly, calico traits show up pregressively as the animal ages, but piebaldism is there from day one and does not change. Either way, post some photos so we can check 'em out!!
