has anyone ever had this happen...

I got a new female about 1 month ago now. she had bred before I got her, shed on 5-13. I had a feeling she may be gravid but wasn't sure. within 1 day after shedding she laid 1 egg. my husband caught it in the nest box and put it in the incubator...looks like a slug. ok no big deal...but then another egg showed up about 1-2 days later. this one not in the nest box, so it was dried up before we even saw it. now she laid a 3rd egg yesterday, also looks like a slug. this is only my second year breeding corns and am by no means an expert but I have never heard of a corn taking this long to lay eggs. I also have no idea if she still has any eggs left because I'm trying to let her settle and disturb her as little as possible. she hasn't touched any food since I got her, frozen or live, big or little. I'm not sure what the deal is but am getting very frustrated. any ideas out there?! thanks in advance for all the help.

p.s. temps are fine and within normal ranges.

I recommend a second nest box for her to choose from. If there are any eggs left, they may show as lumps in her posterior. It will look almost swollen. Rarely does a corn snake lay only 3 eggs, so I'd guess she has more to go.
If the initial ones are coming up slugs, there's a good chance that they all will be, but not definitely.
Be aware that when she starts to lay and does not finish, she may become egg-bound. That can be problematic.

thanks. I'll try the second nest box. I'm going to try soaking her in some warm water as well (another idea form someone else). I've just never heard of them taking so long to lay their eggs! I guess anything is possible! a definate learning experience for me!! thanks again!

when they lay one egg one day, two the next and so on, they all will be infertile. When they have good eggs, they will be layed in a nice cluster and should adhere to each other. Good luck
