The male to female ratio can be what ever you want it to be.... You can have 1 male to 3 females, 2 males to 2 females and so on...
The length of time you keep a male and female together will vary... Some females will let you and your male know she is not ready to breed... At that point you would separate them right away... If the female is ready, you can leave the male and female together for 3 to 5 days...

ok so i can do one male to one female too?
i hear its better to do one male to 2 or more females tho.
and after about a week i should seperate them if they are breeding?
and one more thing...can i breed a female to more then one male in a season?
like breed her to one male and then take her out and breed her to another male right after?
im sure its not good for her but im just wondering.

If you're not as concerned about the genetic makeup of the offspring then using 2 males with the same female in a given season might work. I think the females have the ability to store sperm from the first mating and that might compete with the sperm from the 2nd mating, making your outcome less certain.

Of course if the hatchlings resemble the mailman in any regards you might just want to move.

I have about 6 breeding tanks right now and I left the male in one of them this season and nothing has gone wrong. Just to throw that out there.
