Pacific Giant salamander

nyatt Jul 06, 2006 11:04 PM

While on a search for petrified wood with my kids, my son exclaimed "hey dad, a salamander". I figured it would be a common newt, but I saw how big this was, I knew what it was. This is the first Giant I have caught ever, and the first I have seen in decades. It is an odd (but not unheard of) specimen that never metamorphasized into an air-breather. What a treat! I'm not sure how to attach a photo, or I would post a couple of this beauty!

Go into the photo gallery on the main menu - you will be able to put your pictures on the website from there. When you go to post a new message you will have the option of putting these pictures in the message. Good luck!
