can somone help me out

i need some help i just rescued a gopher snake frome a kid at my school who was keeping it in a tiny little contaner with no heat no water no food for almost a month.i am an avid herper.i have it in a 1ft by 6 in by 6 in.its mayb 18 inches long .they were constantly poking and proding it he brought it to school 1 time in his backpack and then today i bought it faked sick and brought him home .hes aboub a little bit bigger thjan a pencil. i am going to feed him a pinky mouse tomarow. im am going to try and get him rehibilitated and thern i may give him to a friend of mine who wants a herp it has a great temperment.could everyone give me info on good ways to get one to eat i dont know if he will just give me some basic info.(can u get sick frome getting bit my them thats what i heard.

Pituophis species are usually very hardy. Especialy if he's been starved. Just offer him a pink. I'd say 9 chances out of 10 he'll take it on his own and want another one too. Don't feed him too much though at first. No more than 2 at a time. Not only do pits tend to regurge if overfed, since he hasn't eaten for so long, it might be hard to digest that much and could actually kill him. I've seen that happen with other species. Also, make sure you get him on a heat source, even a heating pad on low or something. Try to get the temps in the mid to upper 80's. And as far as getting sick if he bites you, no that won't happen. Might bleed a tiny bit. Won't hurt at all. Hope that helps. I really doubt he'll turn down a meal.
