eye problem?

ive had my 2 columbian redtails for about a month now, in a 20L. the female has shed and looks perfectly fine. the male is getting ready to shed, but one of his eyes looks a little sunken in tonight. its still normally shapen, but seems sort of further back from the skin than normal. what in the world could this be?
