Best light for night viewing

ksbear Jul 07, 2006 06:05 PM

I'd like to be able to see my gtfs at night without adding much heat to their enclosure. Without any light, the night drop is in the low 70s and day temps run around 80. I have a 50w red bulb I could use, but it heats up the area and I was told that a night drop is a good idea. Plus the red bulb doesn't make for very good viewing.

Any ideas, or should I just shine a flashlight in there, like I've been doing? That doesn't work well either. Too many shadows.

Well, you would be better off using the red light, since it shouldn't disturb your frogs that much, and only for viewing, you should turn it off when you are not looking at them. It may not seem like alot of light, but if you are sitting in the dark and let your eyes become accustomed to the light level, you should be able to see quite nicely.

I use either exxo Terra black light called lunar glow (black light but you can see my frogs cant see it but red however they could)
or

ESU night light is black to great to but darker than exxo Terra its an intense black .

If you dont want to increase night temp you can opt for a 10 watt black light bulb or a blacklight flourescent
