I'm guessing most WC Gray-bandeds are lizard eaters, right? Are they converted pretty easily to domestic mice? If so, what are some successful means of doing so? If not, how do you maintain a year round source of feeders?

Ed Acuna told me that he has NEVER come across a WC that did not eat a F/T right away.
Wild caughts seemingly are not a problem.

...and I think to myself, "What a wonderful world."
I've had a few that wouldn't take domestic rodents so I've released where found, but they were few. WC alterna do seem to be scared by larger food so I'd suggest feeding them something smaller than you would normally feed a king of similar size.
uh oh here we go again ! JOHN ARE YOU RELEASING WILD CAUGHTS BACK INTO THE WILD? CHARLIE [caveman] BENTLEY
Yes, Charlie. The Lozier I released after it had been in captivity for a month or two. At the same time I released a Lozier snake for Dr. Dave that was also a non-feeder. Both went within 5 ft. of where they were caught. As for the 277 aniamls I figured I'd taken enough, time to return some. All went back to the crevice they were taken from. I don't have a problem with this since they were NOT cb and thus were pure for their locality and they were all healthy and had not been exposed to any bad vectors. I remain fully against putting any CB/CH into the wild and fully against turning loose animals just anywhere. I do know herpers who release stuff "into a suitable habitat" and I think they should be shot.
Did you leave your first ever grayband where you found it, or did you take it with you? I remember it was a different type of capture.
J
The frist one I found I left right where I found it. I didn't have any puddy knives with me The second one witch was the first live one came off dirt pandale near the cave.It went home with me,never to see tx again. Be back out that way later this summer. Maybe we can hook up. Charlie
I caught two alterna females this year, and both have eaten FT with no trickery invloved.

South Texas Herps
Every Adult grayband I have caught has excepted fuzzies or hoppers right off, but the juveniles were difficult. After hibernating them for some reason then they too will except pinkies without hesitation. just my personal experience with wc alterna. Also all of my wild caught have been from langtry and seminole canyon, don't know if that makes a difference.
