New here - preparing cage

el_toro Jul 07, 2006 09:45 PM

Hi all - some of you might know me from the uro forum, but I've just been lurking here in collareds for a little while. I'm assembling a cage in hopes of getting some young collareds later this summer from someone here (you know who you are!), assuming all goes well with clutches.

The tank is a 40 gallon breeder, and I've just finished the custom top for it and am obnoxiously proud of myself, so I decided to show it off. No lizards yet, so I might as well post pictures of my tank progress, right?

The cage will be in the living room rather than the closed off uro room (too hot). I needed a lid that had easy access, decent ventilation, but could withstand fat, nosy cats poking about. So this is what I came up with.

One circle will be for a SB MegaRay. The second circle is either additional ventilation or a secondary heat lamp if needed. Inside the cage is a mini double fluorescent for more light. The screening is 1/4" hardware cloth.

Any thoughts? Suggestions? Thanks!

Hee, hee--you're funny

That's a good looking top. It looks very professional. You did that yourself?? You should be (obnoxiously) proud!

Welcome to the forum.

So VERY nice to have you here, you are a wonderful addition to the collared FAMILY, LOL

Looks really AWESOME, you handy work. Although, I'm a bit unsure of things right now,
You may want to keep your eyes open if ya know what I mean) Things have worked out differently so far, Nobody in the Texas, or Aquaflame group seems to be cooperating right now.

We can talk later (email)
