New Pac man question

ramboothefrog Jul 08, 2006 12:50 AM

About two weeks ago, I bought an albino pacman. At night, I keep a blue lava lamp near its cage for warmth (the lamp tends to raise the temperature a couple degrees to about 73F). The pacman seems to be hypnotied by the light. He sorta leans against the glass staring at the lava lamp. The tank is only 5 gallons, so the temperature doesn't vary that much. The coolest side is about 70F at night. I just wanted to see what some of you guys think.

Hmm... that's kind of funny. I would observe him for a couple more nights. If he seems restless, and does not dig in the substrate or does not do what he is typically doing in the day then take action.

Here is what you can do:
-Buy an Undertank heater (eliminates the problem completely)
-Put him in a bigger (10G) tank (more room might make him more comfortable because of the temp. variation)
-Put some plants (real or plastic) in the tank (might encourage to hide, might make him feel safer, might block the lava lamp light)

Good luck with your hypnotized frog

Well, lava lamps have lighted blobs that move around. Pacman's are notorious for lunging at anything that moves. My guess is it's attracted to the movements thinking it's prey.
