Got a couple lifers today, sorta, finally got to scoot 2 3' American alligators off the road at dusk! Seen plenty but actually got to count it "in hand" as they were gonna be a sorry set of handbags! The last one actually got up on two legs to haul a$$ for a few steps, hilarious!
2 aor American alligatos
1 dor Broad banded water snake
Calhoun county
TMTC Bullfrogs
TMTC Leopard frogs
2 aor Green tree frogs
3 dor Crayfish snakes
1 dor intergrade Blotched water/? Gulf salt marsh snake?
This last guy is in my cooler for pics and to see it in the daylight. I have heard that the salt marsh snakes intergrade with nerodia but have never seen one. It is funky. I will see if I can get pics later this a.m. What a great night! Too bad so many dor's but that is the nature of that highway when flooded.

Sounds like a good night! I miss the TX coast. I'm looking forward to seeing pics of the watersnake. Gulf Salt Marsh Snakes are known to hybridize with Broad-banded Watersnakes in TX. I've never personally seen one, but have found both in the same area. It seems like it's more prevelant in certain places, and the hybrids are quite common where they do occur.
