I personally use Calci-sand, and have yet to have any trouble. I can't remember who but someone warned me against the Vita-sand...
Jeff
I currently use both.
I keep my smaller geckos on the Vita sand cause it is a smaller grain. I have had no problems with impaction and the smaller grains IMO are safer for smaller lizards etc.
I use the vita-sand for my Tokay and he has no problem with any of that he ingests which isn't much if any at all.
If colors worry you stick to the white uncolored.

I used vitasand in my male leos cage as grout for tile. I didnt think anything of it since he is above 30 grams in weight and since its just between the tile it wasnt anything big, until I noticed that he a had a lot in his stool. I took him off automatically I didnt want anything to get worse. He stool isnormal now.
