Do you name your snakes?

JamiePapas Jul 09, 2006 05:01 PM

I was just wondering how many people actually name their snakes. I understand it would be difficult for the breeders who have tons of snakes, but I was just curious, how many of you name your snakes, and what are their names?
I have my own system for naming mine. I choose names from people, words or sounds I hear in movies/shows that I like a lot.
Here are the names of my snakes:
Bent-twigg - My frist rainbow boa ( named after a mentally diabled Native American in the movie "Almost Hereos"
Escape' - female brb (Named after what Dory says in the movie "Finding Nemo"
Jebus - male brb (named after what homer calls Jesus, in the show "The Simpsons" )
Hathowatha - female brb ( got her name from what Hansen says in "Scary Movie 2" )
Slithers - bullseye female brb (Named from one of the simpsons halloween episodes, what Mr.Burns calls his assistant Smithers when he was a giant snake)
Buhsashu - Male salmon boa BCI (named after a word in the tom green movie "Freddie got Fingered" )
Crappacheeno - Female Hypo boa BCI (named from the show Beavis and Butthead, what beavis calls cappuccino)
Lumpy - Female poss super salmon harlequin boa BCI (named after the school's pet snake in "the simpsons", when they show it you can see how it got its name, it has the shapes of some of the students in its belly lol)
I also have 2 rosy boas but havent named them

I name my snakes. Since most of mine are paired I picked names of couples and the like.
I have:
Dusty - kenyan sand boa
Fernando and Lala - BRBs, the names are actually the names of a good friend who is from Brazil and her sister
Porky and Bess - western hognose, both from the musical Porgy and Bess but since he's a hognose had to change it a little.
Bonnie and Clyde - also western hognose, and I don't think I really need to explain these names
I have two more BRB (both het for hypo - Woot!) on their way soon, gonna have to think of new names.

I name mine after various culture's gods. Check out this link http://www.godchecker.com/pantheon/index.php?_search I pick out a trait in the snake I'm naming and type it into the keyword section. I select male or female and then click on search. Usually it gives you quite a few ideas for cool names.

The last BRB I got has really orange cresents and dorsal patterns. The parents are also very orange. I chose the name Mayhees which is the greek god of summer heat.

Whan I used to breed Cornsnakes I named them after the constellations. I have named most of my Rainbow Boas after geographic features and locations in their ranges. Most other snakes are named with no particular theme.

All of my older ones are named, the names are typically cartoon or after patterns.

I have Porky and Petunia, Mickey and Minnie DUH, cartooners, Also have:

Daisey - rubber duck looking pattern on her neck
Boo - first three neck patterns spell BOO
Cherry - Neck circle with added arch
Clover - three neck patterns joined like a three leaf colver
Bullseye - Not side pattern, first dorsal pattern is a circle with a spot in the middle
Dumbo - Dorsal patterns 2, 3 and 4 joined together looks like an elephant head with big ears
Rusty - a red male with a few browned out dorsal patterns

Many of the younger ones are not named, I probably will name them eventually. More like when I breed them
