Breeding Question

kissnut Aug 02, 2003 07:13 AM

What is the general opinion about cooling down Leo's during the winter, and if people do do they turn off the heatlamps and heatmaps or just reduce the time that the lamps are on.Also do people remove the males for a short period before starting to breed the Leo's.Thanks for your help

I did not cool my Leo's down prior to breedeing, my male and female live in seprate enclosures. When I introduced my female to the male he went right at it ,twice in 5 min. I removed her once again and now I have 2 new hatchlings already and many more on the way. So if you male and female are housed together and you want to breed try seperating them for 1 to 2 weeks then reintroduce them mabye the sparks will fly.

Good luck

usually you don't have to do anything. if you leave a male with a female year round with no cooling they should breed no problem.

Hi
Thanks for your info, what's the best thing to do,introduce the male to the females or vice versa.

i would introduce the females to the male, that way he's already secure in his enviroment, so all he needs to check out is the female.
