Please help...

So I took another stab at breeding this year after only one sucessful hatch last year. Have a bunch of eggs and so far 3 hatched. 2 are doing wonderfully. Are 6 days old, have shed and are eating crickets and mealies. Very active and starting to scream less.

Then there is the other girl. She didn't quite seem right from the start. She did not absorb all her yolk and it finally fell off. She started to shed 2 days ago. She spent time in the moist hide. She just couldn't get the skin off. She is very lethargic and something isn't right. My best guess is she is blind (her eyes do not looked fully formed - like they have dried out in their sockets or something) or just did not mature in the egg properly. I took some q-tips and water and gently helped her shed just now. 3 of her 4 feet were still stuck and her head. Have you seen this before? Any idea if she will make it? Now that she has shed I am hoping she will eat. But she does not move smothly...more like fumbles around and bites at the air. Any suggestions are appreciated. Will I need to syringe feed her? Please help.

You need to get the rest of the stuck shed off her. It will constrict and she could lose limbs worst case. I now it is hard but put her in a deli cup with wet paper towels(and airholes) for awile then try to get off the rest of the shed with q-tips and tweezers, just be carefull with the twezers.

As for the eyes it is hard to tell what is wrong without a pic. They may be deformed or she may have shed stuck over them.
If you cant get her to eat you could try sirnge feeeding, Marcia frmm Golden gate geckos has a great slurry recipe.(her website is at the top of the page i belive).

If her quality of life is really that bad you may need to concider putting her down as well. espcially if it is a deformity, she may have internal problems as well.

good luck

Sarah,

Thanks for the response. I did get all the shed off of her. She seems to be moving around a bit better tonight but is still lethargic and does not respond to bright light (flash - I took a few pics). I would like your opinion of her because I have a few pics now that show a bit of what I am referring. But I hate to admit I don't know how to post pics on here. Help please.

My guess with the eyes is it isnt she. Might be blind but the deformity might be more serious. I need someone with more experience to help make that call. Please help.
