uh-oh - mites on 2nd egg!!

lele Jul 10, 2006 01:16 PM

I just looked closely at egg #2 for more signs of hatching and saw something moving. Got the hand lens and they are little mites!! Crap! I just did a quick pic and upload to webshots, so go to link below and you can see the egg - you can actually see a mite, too! Go to the single egg, last pic (the others are of earlier clutch)

what do I do?

Since #1 was in there for a couple days (moved him to tank this morning) does that mean there may be mites in with him, too??

I HATE mites of ANY sort

thanks!

I generally have seen little buggies on eggs that were infertile or that have died.

hmmm....can I carefully clean it off and put on fresh substrate or should I just leave it alone and wit for it to mold, shrivel - or (maybe) hatch?

here's a pic of the baby boy!

If it is going to hatch, those mites should not deter that from happening. Dang that's a cute little lizard :O)

Well, apparently Stan IS the man!

goddess lives!

Luna (now deceased) never bred cham had 4 clutches in one year and developing another when she died and little Ana here is driving me crazy! However, I have only one little Stan Jr. to show for all their work! We'll see what this new clutch brings. According to Gary Ferguson (he's a panther cham guy but studied the Utas a long time ago) said she should be slowing down soon. Apparently April - Aug. are the fertile months!

Oh, the irony of all this fertility...I have no kids myself (probably a good thing I never tried, I'd have a herd! lol!!)
