Scattered egg question?

fishkiller Jul 10, 2006 03:32 PM

So I came home to find my big red layed 10 eggs. All were scattered throughout the cage.I didnt' know she was gravid.I thought she was gravid a few months ago but gave up on her.So anyway I rushed to make my incubator and got it all set up.By that time she had layed her 12th egg and that was it.I then placed them in the incubator trying not to roll them, but I know she had already rolled them around as she was crawling around laying eggs.So my question is do you think they will be o.k.I like Ash's commment saying I should have up to 24 hrs before the embryo starts forming and should have hopefully made it in time.I guess only time will tell.

IMO if you catch eggs soon like that and it happens the eggs should be alright, the true test will be of course seeing how they do turn out in the incubator afterall is said and done, I hope they are alright though. Only time will tell...we have had numerous things lay here and their eggs roll around a bit, either because they couldnt sit on them all or otherwise, and if good from the get go, I don't think we have had any problems with them afterwards.

Agree with Amelia. Have had no problems with (colubrid) eggs that got scattered around pretty good before I got them into the incubator...I think we may make too big of a deal of the subject. Anyway, its the best that you can do now. Good luck and let us know.
