THE CYCLONE BALL

anthony james mc Jul 10, 2006 04:07 PM

This gem just hatched out today. I bred a Yellow Belly to a new obvious morph I am now calling the "Whirl Wind" and got this animal which I will call the Cyclone Ball. The Cyclone does resemble the Super Stripers but regardless even if they prove to be the same thing I want to seperate my line from Jareds line , not to be a snob but to keep the genetics seperate.. The Super Whirl Wind will be called the Tornado.. Whirl Winds look alot like Fires but since that cross has already been done and the YB x Fires didn't turn out like this I again feel that a new name is needed for the time being , as I highly doubt the Whirl Winds are Fires , they do resemble them in looks however.. ENJOY the pics, thank God for Yellow Bellies and Whirl Winds is all I can say!!!!!!!! Anthony McCain-McCain's Reptiles...

Well disregard that pic of the weird patterned normal on the bottom, I must have selected the wrong pic as she has nothing to do with this post, sorry, here is the pic I meant to have for the third picture.. PS I am running on 3 hours of sleep today, needless to say I didn't sleep well last night with this Cyclone in the incubator!!!! Anthony McCain-McCain's Reptiles..

Anthony, they're awsome. Are they all hatched out now? Yes? Good, now get some sleep . Ya did good, congrats.

Congrats!!!! Very cool, you`ll have to give me some of your magic pixie dust next time I see you. First an Ivory from an unproven yellowbelly, then the Mystic/Phantoms,and now this!!! You`ve got to be kidding me. What`s next? Keep up the great work. Mark Petros BallPython777.com

Hey thanks Mark! I appreciate that, but don't kid yourself you have an awesome collection working for you over there as well... Take care man , Anthony McCain-McCain's Reptiles...

Kingofspades Jul 10, 2006 04:14 PM

I thought the super stripe had one consistent stripe down it's back with no breaks.
Yours has breaks, telling me that it just might not be a super stripe...although I could be wrong.

Good luck with that project

Yes isn't it terrible , 3 small breaks , what a shame , I guess I will have to live with it.. Have you ever seen a Genetic Stripe with a break or two?? Do they not still call them G Stripes???? Just like ALL Ball morphs they are VARIABLE I am sure!!!! Anthony McCain-McCain's Reptiles..

WildBills Jul 10, 2006 04:40 PM

I think that is why he said "resembles" and not "it is" a super stripe.

BackBeat Jul 10, 2006 04:37 PM

Very, very nice!

I agree that there is variation in the morphs. Even with the breaks in the Stripe the side patterning and overall colouration is quite reminiscent of the 'Super Stripes'.

So the mother is a form of co-dom stripe, eh?

I suspect we will see more people producing animals like this.

Afterall, with YBs being somewhat common in collections, and hundreds (thousands?) of various striped balls imported every year, it's only a matter of time before someone else replicates the 'secret recipe'.

Check out Ralph Davis's clutch 31. I like the odds of that striped female being genetic as well.

Big Congrats to you. Well done.

Hi Anthony,
Congratulations on the Cyclone. It looks great man. But to be honest as good as it looks I am really more interested in the Whirl Winds. Any idea when you will start offering them? LOL

Good luck with whatever else you have bred them to,
Albey

Hi , actually it will be a little while before I release the Whirl Winds.. I hope to breed a Ivory male to the original Whirl Wind female this winter to produce more Cyclones , when I do that none will be just Whirl Winds they will either be Cyclones or more Yellow Bellies because the Ivory is involved and he produces ALL Yellow Bellies.. I have one male in this clutch from today that is 100% a Whirl Wind , he looks just like mom, I have another that doesn't look as nice as his brother but yet doesn't look normal either (lighter coloration and co-dom looking belly) so after I get some size on him I think it will be easy to tell if he is one, I think just like alot of morphs you can get ones that aren't as pretty but yet still carry the genes regardless, such as the variations you see in Pieds, Yellow Bellies, Spiders, Pastels, G Stripes etc, some just look better than others.. Obviously with all the people out there with YB's the Whirl Winds will be highly sought after as they are needed to make Cyclones (or Super Stripers if they are indeed the same) after so trust me I plan to have them in the future! Thanks for all the kind words folks! Anthony McCain-McCain's Reptiles..

Gorgeous animal! I'd be willing to wager that it is the same genetic morph as Jared's super stripes.

minifedawg Jul 10, 2006 06:54 PM

Wish I knew someone with one of those!!!

No, that is just a nice normal, it was not supposed to be on there, I mentioned that below the original pic, sorry, just ignore that pic altogether.. The Whirl Winds look alot like Fires, similiar head markings , similiar belly, similiar colorations and side markings etc, but I think they are different than Fires as the YBx Fire cross made the On Fire Balls , they are cool but not like the Cyclone. Once they are established I will post a pic of the Whirl Winds... They are codoms and look like the mom.. Thanks, Anthony McCain-McCain's Reptiles...

To put it simply: amazing. No other words needed. I'm pictuing that snake in a nice pastel, lavender, yellow, or maybe even British-esque gray and black, and they all look amazing in my mind's eye. Huge congrats on the hatchling, regardless of the genetics at play.

You had mentioned that the mother looks like a fire... I haven noticed that most vanilla's are heavily striped and share color similarities with the striped portions and other parts of your cyclone and jared's super stripe. It makes me then wonder if these things are the result of vanilla's crossed with yellowbellies..... Just some food for thought

Congrats!!! Great looking animal.

That Whirlwind sure looks familiar, I might just have to breed a few snakes of mine in a different direction next year.
Good talking to you the other day.
Congrats
